Broker

Broker/sell-side research department that is connected with an investment bank and compensated via commission or other MIFID compliant payment mechanism.

Central Bank

Contributors that represent the governmental central banking organization of a country.

Commercial Real-Estate Brokers

Contributors that operate as commercial real-estate agents and produce research on the real-estate sector (residential and commercial) that supports the financing, acquisition, marketing and leasing of a certain property/land. It is NOT about listing properties for sale.

Commodities Brokers

Contributors that are involved in the buying/selling/market making of commodities such as raw material and agricultural recourses.

Corporate Release

These firms have no stock trading organization. Reports from these contributors are generally news items on the firms they serve, and highlight the latest news that impacts the company, executive changes, new products or contracts, etc.

Event Transcript

Research provider that produces corporate disclosure and brokerage event information.

Expert Network

Contributors whose business model is to bring together “expert professionals” from across industries/disciplines to allow their clients to get insight and access to expert opinion on how corporations and markets operate.

Independent - Fundamental Research

Independent research providers that mainly carry out fundamental and company research analysis.

Independent - Macroeconomic/Market Research

Independent research providers that carry out research at a macroeconomic level. The research is likely to be based in analysing countries/regions/markets from a high level economic perspective (Interest rates, GDP, etc.).

Independent - Market Data Provider

Independent research providers that generally collect and redistribute data without further analysis. This data would be relevant to market and may simply be a presentation of security or commodity prices or other market data

Independent - Primary Research

Independent research providers that produce their own research via gathering of new data that has not been collected before. This may include surveys, questionnaires, interviews, and other surveying methods.

Independent - Quant Based

Independent research providers that produce typically at high-volume, research based computer driven quantitative analytics with no opinions.

Industry Body

Contributors that represent the participants in a particular industry or sector. These are often associations formed by firms operating in a particular industrial sector, and carries out research relating to the business or market conditions impacting their members.

Inter-Broker Dealer

Contributors that are likely operating in the bond or over-the-counter derivatives market. These firms act as an intermediary between brokers to facilitate inter-dealer trades.

Law Firm

Contributors that offer legal expertise when it comes to advising clients on the latest market developments.

Non-Government Organizations

A non-profit national/international organization that often runs on a voluntary or charitable basis and operates without government intervention.

Other Contributor

Organization that supplies adjacent content or material relevant to the institutional investment community but this is not a key part of their business.

Ratings Agency

A credit ratings agency that assigns credit ratings based on the corporation’s or public body’s ability to pay back debt and their likelihood of default.

Shipping Agency

Contributors that act as a shipping agency publish reports on events that influence the shipping industry which includes tracking shipping routes and identify the cargo.

Sponsored Research

Research firm that receives compensation from a covered company or related party of that covered company in exchange for writing investment research on companies.

Think Tank

A research institute/center producing research and advocacy concerning topics such as social policy, political strategy, economics, military, technology, and culture. Think Tanks are likely non-profit organizations, some of which are funded by governments.

Required only where recommendations are included in the research content to be contributed. This will enable the scale used in the research to be mapped to the Refinitiv standard recommendation scale.

This is the name that will appear on the contribution agreement and should reflect the name used within the content to be contributed to Refinitiv.

Please describe the nature of the content that you propose to contribute, any particular focus in terms of asset class, geographies & sectors covered plus any notable differentiator in the way that your research is conducted.

Please describe your firm, its primary activities and any notable awards, rankings or activities that distinguish it from its peers.

Sample documents are required to assess the suitability of the content for inclusion in the Refinitiv databases.

Samples should be representative of the content that you propose to contribute to Refinitiv.

Distribution to ALL Refinitiv clients will allow your research to be accessed by any client of Refinitiv with access to real-time or embargoed research products. There is no ability to exclude individual firms from seeing your research.

Distribution only to buy-side firms that you specificatlly entitle will allow you to control which firms get access to your research content.

Note that some buy-side firms may block your content in line with MiFID II compliance.
